My move to Honfleur has always been my dearest dream.

Honfleur, one of the cradles of Impressionism

To experience the life of artists, you've come to the right place. Since the 19th century, the Normandy port has been a source of inspiration for painters, poets, writers, photographers…
And what inspires you the most?

SARAH SERGEANT

There are many who, like Baudelaire, were seduced by the pretty city of Honfleur. Indeed, since the 19th century, many artists have been inspired by these places and their works have been marked by their passage in this corner of Normandy.
Without making an inventory like Prévert (who actually never came to Honfleur), we can cite:
Claude Monet, Eugène Boudin, Camille Corot, Charles Baudelaire, Erik Satie, Alphonse Allais, Raoul Dufy…

And more recently Françoise Sagan, Michel Serrault, France Gall

Today, the city is still a refuge and a creative center for many artists, evidenced by the large number of galleries and art studios.

Forge

The incredible house-workshop of Florence Marie

Imagine yourself at the bend of an alley in the old medieval center of Honfleur. You push a door and you are transported into a strange and colorful world.
And suddenly you feel like Alice who followed the White Rabbit and wakes up in Wonderland.

Welcome to the world of Florence Marie!

Forge is an art place, classified as “Singular Art”.
The house, the garden, the underground are a work in themselves. Each wall, each space is a pretext for creation, the sculptures, paintings, mosaics, monumental frescoes, are strong and evocative expressions.

Loïc Lagarde

As a good misanthropic artist who respects herself, Florence affirms that she does not wish to be insulted and she refuses to claim to belong to a movement or a style.
She likes that you have to look for it a little before finding it, you have to deserve it.
But once you find her, she welcomes visitors and happily talks about her work.
You will surely find her working on one of her projects, she is bustling and never stops.

She also sets up cultural programming within La Forge. Concerts, conferences, shows... take over the premises and enliven the garden, the underground or the artist's studio.

Art fills the streets

Honfleur to artists with “La Nuit des Artistes”

Like a summer night's dream, art takes possession of the port city once a year.
At the beginning of each month of August, on a magical night, art takes place everywhere. Every square, every garden, every corner of the city is taken over by an installation, a flamenco ballet, a piano floating on the pool, a monumental fresco under construction, a story tree... and of course a host of works art placed everywhere.
We love this timeless moment, it’s an experience to absolutely live!

When: Every year in August
Where: Everywhere in the maritime city of Honfleur
(program available in July)
