Description

Go on a tour to discover the Normandy coastline on this 194-kilometre walking route that will take you from Honfleur in Calvados to Carentan in Manche. What superb views of the seaside villas of the Belle Epoque in Trouville sur Mer, Houlgate, Hermanville sur Mer, Saint Aubin sur Mer… or tread the famous boards of Deauville without forgetting the sensitive natural areas such as that of the Bois du Breuil located near the famous port of Honfleur or that of the Falaises des Roches noires in Villerville. The nature discoveries, such as in the bay of Orne or near Carentan will delight you with the diversity of their fauna and flora. Little egrets here, grebes there or even viperine and obione. There is something for everyone in Calvados, lovers of architecture, nature, the sea… without forgetting the gastronomy that makes this region famous; Oysters, scallops, cheeses or other cider-based drinks are yours, depending on the season and to be enjoyed in moderation, the hike is not over yet...

That tempts you, so set off with the topoguide in hand, you will find wise advice from the volunteers of the Departmental Hiking Committees, for a hike in complete safety, as well as tourist information.
The tourist offices remain at your disposal to help you prepare your stages, to make you want to follow this route.

You will find on this sheet the GPX tracks to help you on your journey: complete track as well as those of its variants and excluding GR® ensuring the continuity of the route at high tide.
Indeed, it is advisable to check the tide times on the sections along the beaches. Some can only be used at low tide, as the upper part of the beach does not have a protective dike. At high tide, the sea is at its highest level: depending on the importance of the tide coefficient, it can cover the upper part of the beach, preventing passage. In general, you should not go onto a beach for 2 hours before or after high tide, and this period should be increased further during high tides. You should then use the GR® trails or the variants. It is necessary to consult the tide times and coefficients (www.maree.shom.fr).

This hiking route is the continuation of the GR® 21 which starts from Tréport to reach Le Havre, in Seine-Maritime. Crossing the Pont de Normandie can be done by bus to reach Honfleur, the starting point of the GR® 223.

All you have to do is prepare yourself, a comfortable backpack, proven walking shoes, a water bottle, supplies... and let's set off along the Calvados coast!
