Description

Follow this route marked in yellow. On the way you will find the old 19th century lighthouse which once guided navigation in the Seine, classified as a Historic Monument. Numerous panoramas of the Seine estuary will be to be observed, pass in front of Château de la Pommeraye, discover the chapel, the miraculous Saint Benoît spring and the wash house in Carbec, discover the cross and pond of Inglemare, then finish the loop in the town of Fatouville-Grestain.

Getting to the starting point to report a problem

Step 1

With your back to the church, go right towards the housing estate. At the end of the dead end, take the path which goes around the cemetery.

Step 2

At the exit of the woods, follow the GR 223 on the right. Go up to the crossroads which you cross to the left to take the small road to the right of the calvary towards the old lighthouse

Step 3

After the lighthouse, take the sunken path opposite which passes near a pretty pond. Back on the road, continue straight along the Grestain woods. Stay on the well-groomed path and turn right towards the exit from the woods.

Step 4

At the crossroads, go down left towards Carbec, then turn left onto Chemin de l'Epinette which offers wide views of the estuary. At the bottom, turn right onto the small road which runs alongside the magnificent park of Château de la Pommeraye.

Step 5

Go up to the right in front of the castle towards the wash house and the Carbec chapel. After this refreshing break, continue the ascent via the small road on the left after the wash house. And enjoy the panoramas over the estuary as you turn around once you arrive at the path lined with superb ash pollards.

Step 6

At the top, turn left along a small road and continue straight on at the crossroads then take the path to the right which crosses the plain through fields.

Step 7

At the Inglemare pond, turn right twice towards the village of Fatouville. At the sight of the first houses, turn right.

Step 8

At the Virgin of the Missions (polychrome statue), turn left then immediately right. 200 meters of sunken path further, turn left twice to find the village square.
