Description

Near Honfleur and Saint Gatien des Bois, the town of Fourneville offers you a walking tour through the Orange valley which will take you to discover a lesser-known area of ​​Calvados.

The Orange is the river which runs through the territory of Fourneville and along which you will walk peacefully.

You can stop at the washhouse. The builders of the time (13th century) built a work in the image of a boat, undoubtedly testifying to the maritime past of this small river which flows into the sea.

Getting to the starting pointto report a problem

Step 1

1- Departure from the parking lot in front of the town hall. With your back to the town hall, go to the right and take Chemin des Hélains. Once at the top, go down towards the shaded path which will lead you to the river.

Step 2

2 – At the bottom, at the crossroads of the four paths along the river, keep to your left, then climb up to the next intersection. Back on the asphalt, go down to the right. If necessary, cross the wooden swing gates. Just after the second, head to the left then go up. Turn left again at the next intersection. At the top, turn right for 50m and turn immediately right just at the foot of the water tower. Continue this path through pastures until you reach the D144a road. Cross it, then head towards the stone path to the right. At the bottom, you arrive at the Croix Hauron crossroads. Watch out for cars. Continue towards Le Theil en Auge on the D277.

Step 3

3 – Carefully follow the D277 for 250m then turn right, just after the Orange River. Continue straight ahead and at the end of the small road, turn right towards the stone path. You gradually enter the woods. You will sometimes see the river on your right. Continue straight ahead until you reach the crossroads of the four outward paths.
At this crossroads, keep to the left then climb slightly to find the path to the fountain. Once on the tarmac, turn right downhill with caution (dangerous turn).
At the bottom, on your left, you can make a final refreshing stop at the ship-shaped wash house. You will also contemplate the other side of the XNUMXth century Saint Pierre church.
Go back a few more meters and you will find your starting point.
