The Maisons Satie house an original scenographic and musical tour paying tribute to the musician and composer Erik Satie born here in 1866.
Much more than an exhibition, this visit involves the visitor in a unique setting.
A spectacle to see and experience which allows you to discover the man, his music and his era.
But who is this Satie you are talking about?
Eric Alfred Leslie Satie born on May 17, 1866 in our good city of Honfleur.
His father was a shipping broker and young Erik spent his early years between Normandy and Paris. He discovered the piano at the age of 12 with his father's second wife and entered the Conservatoire.
Erik Satie has been associated with Symbolism and is recognized as the precursor of several movements including Surrealism and the Theatre of the Absurd. But above all it is unclassifiable.
Erik Satie was a complete artist also devoting himself to literature and painting, he frequented the artists of the Chat Noir circle and collaborated with the older ones : Picasso, Picabia, Braque, Cocteau, René Clair and exerted his influence on artists as prestigious as Debussy, Ravel or Stravinsky.
My name is Erik Satie! Like everyone…
An immersive scenography
Equipped with headphones, the visitor is guided through a succession of musical scenes to the rhythm of the work of Erik Satie.
The scenography, combining sound, light, image and objects in such a “whimsical” and “humorous” setting as Erik Satie could be, is aimed at young and old by offering a visit that is both fun and informative.
Throughout your stroll, you will come across: a pear with wings, a piano that plays by itself, flying costumes, cabaret sets and
